Well, it's all over and I made it! I finally crossed the line 4 and a half hours after starting, which was faster than I'd hoped to do it in. The last few miles were particularly painful, but the crowds of supporters were amazing, as was seeing friends along the route.

So, I've done my bit - please do yours and help me raise money for such a good cause!

Thanks,

Alex

Please sponsor me

Because I got a place in the ballot for the marathon, rather than the charity paying for one, and because friends have kindly helped set up this website so that we are not paying any fees on bank transactions etc, every penny that you give will go directly to Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust.

£
- uncheck if you are not a UK taxpayer. If you are, then DWCT can get an extra 28p for every pound you donate for free!

This will take you through to the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust site where they have a secure server. If you don't like online donations but would still like to help then do feel free to e-mail me and we can sort out another way!

Thank you!!

About Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust

When I was young, Gerald Durrell's wonderful books were among my favourites, and were a huge influence on me. I developed an interest in the natural world, and ended up studying zoology and working on natural history programmes for the BBC.

The Trust that Durrell founded works to conserve species all around the world. What impresses me about them is the way that they do very good research into exactly how best to go about the conservation work, they work hand-in-hand with local people in the countries they work (and have an international training school with scholarships for people all over the world), and they never think that a species is too rare to be worth working with. The stories of their successes are truly inspiring. There's no one I would trust more to put any money I can help raise to the best use possible. I (still!) think that's worth running 26 miles for.
